Aromatherapy Massage

Is your day-to-day routine making you feel a bit burnt out? Need a mental and physical recharge? An aromatherapy massage could be just what you need, now let me tell you why.

You start by choosing the massage type, your aromatherapist could offer a Swedish, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Lymphatic, Oncology, and many others, they then incorporate the healing and beautiful effects of essential oils as a supplementary therapy in the massage. Massage therapy in itself is beneficial for reducing muscle pains, and tightness and improving blood flow; adding essential oils for aromatherapy massage can bring in better results.

What are essential oils? You may ask. Well, they are aromatic, volatile liquids acquired from plants by steam distillation or cold pressing. Aromatherapists do not apply essential oils directly to the skin but rather they first dilute with a carrier oil, a few drops of essential oil to an ounce of carrier oil such as sweet almond oil or olive oil concentration.

Here are some popular essential oils and their enhanced benefits:

  • Jasmine, Tea Tree, and Eucalyptus are known to reduce inflammation
  • Lavender and Chamomile produce a calming effect which helps improve symptoms of anxiety, and create better sleep
  • Peppermint is known for managing and reducing headaches
  • Lemon and Orange can give you a recharged feeling that helps give you a boost of energy
  • Rosemary is known to help with memory, prevent muscle spasms, and support the circulatory and nervous systems.
  • Frankincense improves concentration and enhances spiritual awareness which is also great for meditation.
  • Avocado, Jojoba, and Grapeseed oils help keep your skin looking young and glowing

The aroma from essential oils is known to have healthy and healing effects on our brain as it triggers the “happy” hormones dopamine and serotonin, resulting in a pleasant mood. To make sure you have a great experience with your aromatherapy massage, consider the following:

  • Choose a massage therapist or aromatherapist you are comfortable with, it is important as they will be the ones to help guide you in determining what best suits your body and needs.
  • Start paying close attention to your body and your emotions, and focus more on the areas of your body where you feel pain and discomfort. If you’re experiencing insomnia, or if you are suffering from severe stress and anxiety, these are great examples to share with your massage therapist so they can give you more personalized care.

The combination of applying the nurturing power of touch and pressure to the body while using the powerful scents of aromatic essential oils will truly give you a unique and personal experience, that is why it isn’t unusual to be able to find massage places or spas near you, as it has become one of the best ways to relax, unwind and heal.

Now that you’ve learned how aromatherapy can work for you, what is stopping you from looking up a “massage near me now”? This is the push you need to get that well-deserved “Me Time”, reward yourself or your loved one with a healing touch.
